Beavers Baseball Home Opener

The Oregon State Beavers Baseball team had their home opener this weekend against the Purple Aces from Evansville. The Beavers swept the three game series against the number 25 ranked Purple Aces bringing their record to 17 and 3. Though this team is different than last years National Champions team, they are almost as good with plenty of room for improvement. The only thing missing is someone to step up and become a stand out performer like Cole Gilespie did last year. If someone does step up there is no reason that this team won't be in Omaha just like the two previous seasons. I went to both Fridays and Saturdays games and was very impressed with the way that the team handled themselves. The defense was good, the pitching was dominant and the rest of the team is swinging the bats well. New to Goss Stadium at Colman Field this year is an infield made of field turf and a new video scoreboard. This is going to be another exciting year for Beaver Baseball.
